Week 12: Taste of Chicago

Week 12

I can’t believe we are already into week 12. Just 4 more weekend adventures until my time in Illinois is complete. I’m sure it will fly by.

Today I went to the Taste of Chicago in Millennium Park. I decided to take the train because I knew that parking would be crazy. I much prefer to drive just because I’m not limited to a train schedule, and I’m not sitting on the train for hours on end. But today I happened to get on an express train which was excellent. The trip was only about 35 minutes one way! So I arrived and had to buy tickets to get food. I mean it’s the taste of chicago, you have to eat something right?! So I got 12 tickets which would get me 3 different food tastes. I walked around the entire festival picking out the good booths, and my favorite was Harry Carrey’s friend cheese ravioli, yum so tasty.

Then I headed to the stage because a band called The Jayhawks were performing. I didn’t really know who they were, but my favorite IL radio station was hosting, so I thought well they should be good. So I get to the hatch shell like thing and my goodness it was hot. It was hot all day but just sitting in the sun, I was dripping. A few people fainted throughout the festival and had to be carried away, but I believe it had to do with alcohol use. Anyway, this other band, The Everest or something opened. So I sat through their set and really just didn’t like them. Then it began to rain, so I left.

But very cool, at least I can say I went to taste of chicago. Tomorrow Lisle is having their hot air balloon/firework festival. I’ll go to that for sure. Last night Naperville had their fireworks which I could see from my window. I find it strange that there aren’t any fireworks on the 4th, but oh well.

Join me as I take on 12 road races over the course of a year, and become a new healthier me.
